
Recipient of the Innovation Award in 2022 and the Emerging Talent Award in 2019 from the Grands Prix Desjardins de la culture, Vincent-Nicolas Provencher (Dancer and Choreographer) holds two college diplomas (DEC) in contemporary dance performance. He has also trained in Quebecois step dancing and theatrical performance. However, his specialty remains partnering work and contact improvisation.
Since 2013, he has performed for various artists and companies, including Benjamin Hatcher, Marie Béland, Manon Oligny, Harold Rhéaume, SQX Dance, Productions des pieds des mains, the Opéra de Québec, and Zeugma.
He is also active as a choreographer. Since 2016, he has created the pieces Entre tête et mère and Être(s) de glace. He also co-choreographed a contemporary step dance duet, L&L.
In parallel with his career as a performer and choreographer, Vincent-Nicolas is involved as a cultural manager. In 2014, he founded the Alliance des arts de Montréal. In 2019, he co-founded CIL (Contact Impro Lanaudière) and, in 2021, Cent méandres - Arts & découvertes. He is also involved as a coordinator for ACI (Association Contact Impro).
In 2021, with the support of CALQ, he developed Le coffre à danser, a cultural mediation software that introduces users to the intricacies of dance creation.
Finally, in 2023, he began research on aquatic contact improvisation. He is currently traveling the world to gain international expertise in this field.
