| Lilly Picts (U.K./U.S.A.) is very happy to be facilitating a series of three underscore practices in Montréal throughout the Fall, in partnership with A.C.I. www.contactimpro.org¸. The underscore is a long jamming contact improvisation score that Nancy Stark Smith has been developing since 1990. It guides us through a progression of “changing states” of body and mind—from solo sensitizing to gravity and support, into group circulation and contact improvisation engagements, opening out into whole-room compositional awareness and interaction, and back to rest and reflections. These sessions are open to newcomers to the underscore, a full ‘talk through’ will be given at each session, but some experience of contact improvisation is required. Practices will be held :
- october 22 : from 4pm to 7pm at Ashtanga yoga, 372 St-Catherine O., suite 118
- november 12th and december 10th : from 6.30pm - 9.30pm at S’Temps d’Art Africain, 3rd floor, 215 Jean Talon Ouest, Montréal, Québec.
The closest metro stations are Jean-Talon, de Castelnau and Parc.
We request a $6-$12 participation contribution to help us make rent and hopefully keep this practice going. Giving as much as you can to support this practice in our community is greatly appreciated.
