You’re invited to the 2nd edition of contact-improv dance jam for women (cis, trans and non-binary) and Queer people. Open to dancers of all levels.
« The intimacy of contact improvisation (CI) can provide nourishment for a soul that is hungry for connection, expression, and healing community. But not everyone experiences this intimacy as a purely wholesome thing."
This extract comes from an essay that addresses the coexistence of different genders in contact improvisation and the need to respect boundaries by Brooks Yardley.

The essay inspired us to create this contact improv dance jam for a more selective diversity, aimed at women (cis, trans, non-binary) and Queer people. This dance form involves extreme physical proximity and therefore may trigger feelings of discomfort and insecurity for anyone, regardless of gender. That said, certain populations experience difficult or traumatic situations related to touch more frequently.
We think, therefore, that it’s important to create spaces aiming to be even safer, where women and Queer people can meet, practice together and share their stories in conjunction with CI.
Open to dancers of all levels.
