Yeah!!! Another jam in choosen mixity!
« The intimacy of contact improvisation (CI) can provide nourishment for a soul that is hungry for connection, expression, and healing community. But not everyone experiences this intimacy as a purely wholesome thing."
This extract comes from an essay that addresses the coexistence of different genders in contact improvisation and the need to respect boundaries by Brooks Yardley.

A few intentions for this jam:
~ Creation of a safer space within the Montreal contact improv community to encourage Queer folks and women to connect through their bodies and non-sexual touch by eliminating certain factors that can trigger fear and insecurity
~ Creation of a space for connection, and for being present to oneself and to others, by the use of movement, dance and playfulness
~ Providing ourselves with the opportunity to explore contact improv dynamics in a manner that is more fluid and less binary such as heavy/ light, strong/weak, active/passive, leader/follower, etc…
~ Exploration of contact improv as a dance form that allows us to practice consent (verbal & non-verbal) with ourselves and others
No experience required! Open to dancers of all levels of experience
